Kumbaya is a social enterprise founded by Nivedita Banerjee in 1994 in a remote village of central India to provide a way for women from tribal communities, people with disabilities and other marginalised groups to learn a wide new range of skillsets like sewing, patchwork and embroidery while ensuring them fair wages.    

Today, over 100 women from marginalised communities work in Kumbaya Producer Company Ltd, where employment is guaranteed for 300 days a year.    

Kumbaya is also deeply committed to train and employ people with disabilities, whose inability to contribute manual labour in a local agricultural area leads to their further marginalisation.
